I also had this problem with Firefox and was getting damn frustrated. The key was when 95GTV8 mentioned the kontera.com bit. Did a Google search on it and it turns out that if you install "AdBlock" you can put in the line:

http://kona.kontera.com/javascript/lib/KonaLibInline.js

That will stop this stupid context based avertising thing from bogging your computer

I'm gonna PM Mike Raburn about the kontera thing in the meantime to see if it's really necessary.
