im ordering a tuner and 3.73's today before work i'm thinking of going with the combo kit from american muscle that consist of ford racing gears and the sct custom tuner , any suggestions?? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2003 Gt - K&N intake -C&L upper plenum -bbk throttle body -pypes o/r x -flowmaster c/b -pro 5.0 shifter :Track:
SCT is a good company to work with. I use Diablosport and it has been just fine. SCT is probably used a little more than Diablosport, though.
American muscle gives out free tunes if you buy the SCT from them and we get a 6% discount there, so think about that lol plus it really comes down to what your dyno tuner in the area uses because eventually you'll want your car dyno tuned and you'll want to have the same tuner they tune with
SCT here too. Diablosport is probably equally as good, Sniper is another choice, but most speed shops that I know of deal with SCT software. What you should be looking into is what the speed shops in your area are using. If you ever plan on getting the car on the dyno for any reason, you'd be best to go with whatever product they're used to working with.
I did see good results from my Diablosport. I bought it used for $160 and gained 6.9 rwhp and 13 ftlb's off their "canned" tune alone.
So you guys say go with the tuner that your local tuner uses... well, our local shop has a SuperFlow Dynamometer and their software is WinDyn (comes with their dynamometer)... Elaborate please...
Are you thinking of WinPEP? (Performance Evaluation Program) If so, that's just the software that converts the raw output from the dyno into a program that can view, sort, and print the information from the dyno. I'd say that it's like graphic design, it really doesn't matter whether they use Photoshop, Corel, Illustrator... Mac or PC, as long as you get exactly what you want is the most important. Out here, SCT is more popular, but there are some DiabloSport anad Sniper tuners who do fantastic work just the same, and there are some SCT tuners who stink. Choose your tuner and go with what they suggest... but if you want to buy a blank SCT, call us
