My experience:
I labored over this decision as well. I wanted a great sounding stainless steel catback. I had heard magnaflows (both types) in person, but only sound clips of Bassani. I really wanted that Bassani sound!
The Bassani Quiet Thunder catback was basically DOUBLE the price of the
magnaflow (or anything else). The thought of spending nearly $700 shipped from Houstonperformance was painful........ but I ordered it anyway.
While in rout, I nearly had an ulcer that I just dropped $700 on "just" a catback. When it arrived I felt a little better........ unbelievable workmanship!
I decided to install it myself. I had never done "anything" on a mustang (or any car). The directions were great and it fit like a glove.
When the install was completed, I wanted to hear it for the first time from behind the car. I had my wife jump in and fire it up while I stood about 30 feet behind.
When she turned over the engine and that thing fired up.....................
my ulcer disappeared IMMEDIATELY!!!!
After researching for the "perfect" catback for 6 months, scared to make a mistake, and spending an TON of cash on it, it was COMPLETELY worth it!
I get compliments everywhere I go....... especially from other stangbangers who have modified exhausts.
To clarify, the previous owner of my Bullitt had already installed the Bassani X-pipe with cats. So my current system is all Bassani with exception of headers. It sounds awesome! It's a very clean sound, without popping or cracking (midpipe selection highly influences this as well). My friends here me coming from about 2 blocks away. There is nothing quiet about their "Quiet Thunder" catback. But it is not too loud like some others.
Bassani does not make the loudest, but it surely is the DEEEEEEEEPEST I've heard. Especially mated with their x-pipe with cats. I've read many reports that their x-pipe WITHOUT cats sounds a little raspy. There may be some truth to this, I've yet to hear one.
Definately get it. You may have an ulcer about the price, but once you fire it up........ you'll never regret it!
Sorry so long, but you asked for additional feedback. This is the best I can do.
