Bearing retainer question???

I have a 94-05 gt and just got a new T5 for it. The input shaft bearing retainer on the new T5 is a little different. My old one and the new one are the same length meaning the retainer stops at the same point as the old one and the input shaft has the same length as the old one. But the new retainer is longer going back towards the transmission.

It would seem like the throwout beaing would have more length to slide on the retainer bearing.

Anyone see a problem with using this retainer?

I am by no means an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but if you consider that the clutch cable, fork and bell housing will limit backwards movement of the bearing on the retainer, I would think that it would be ok. I believer you have the steel retainer, since I THINK my uninstalled steel retainer did go back a little more towards the trans-side.
