    Hey all,

I am getting new rear tires on my '89 and i would like to get something wider than 225's. How big can I safely go without modification ?

I have 245's all the way around on my ponys and they look too balooney to me. If I ever have to get another set of tires on those rims I might try 235's.

255/50's fit fine. Not to bad on the side buldge....Just depends on ur taste. But I would not go any bigger than that as suggested..... FWIW....I run BFG drag radials and have no wear issues.

But it's a 15" rim vs a 16" rim. The 15 has a larger sidewall allowing it more room to flex for the 275.

    16's don't have that much

IMO, 245-50-R16 are the best looking tires on a 16X7 Pony wheels, but obviously, 255's will fit.
