This is what I was up to, today:
This will probably be a part 1 with part 2 being adding a switched 12V source to the green wire, & adding a relay and 3-way switch so I can force the fan on/off or leave it to the DCC.
Testing it out afterwards showed me that the A/C switch is working, and so is the temp sensor, which after a small adjustment seems to be coming on at just above my thermostat setting. That's right where I want it.
I'm interested to see if theres an impact to fuel economy. I'd guess it'd be worth 1-2 mpg. I doubt I'll make it back to the track or dyno before more mods and tuning to see any power gains
Innovate MTX-L Problems continue:
Lately, my 2nd $80 Bosch wideband O2 sensor has been on the fritz. This is the 2nd one in just about 2 months. I remember reading stories about problems like this with Innovate. I pulled it out into free air, and pulled up the carpet to unplug it so I could follow Innovate's "calibration" instructions. I got an E2 error, like the first one before I replaced it. Then, after a few more tries, it started giving me a reading again, but alas, it was bouncing all over the place to unreasonable numbers that would absolutely be easy to feel, such as going completely (up to 22:1) under load. Yet, the car is running wonderfully, as always.
I guess my next step is to talk to Innovate to troubleshoot or possibly warranty.
Next up:
- appt with
Kooks on Wednesday. I asked them to take a look at the car to see if they can make me a set of 1 3/4" Lon Tube headers that look nice and will clear my 7 o'clock clutch fork. This build doesn't need them, but I'm moving some pieces to build a better stock shortblock combo that will either go on this shortblock or another I find on the market, while I continue to drive this one. Anyways, this week, they just going to take measurements and see if they think they can do it with the stock K-member. If so, they'll schedule a future appt to bring the car in for the work.
- got the ported GT40 lower from Matt / TMOSS. It's matched to the GT40X heads on the car now. If I have the car back from Kooks next weekend, I'll probably throw them on.
