So here we go............
A friend of mine just did a TrickFlow Upper half kit. Heads, cam, intake, 1.6 rockers, 30lb injectors, underdrives, flaming river manual rack. Smog pump and hardware, A/c and hardware, egr and hardware have all been removed. Pretty much all the things that can be removed have been. He has been messing with this car for months.
Now, when he goes to start it, its a real hard start. The fuel smell is very strong. I went to help him yesterday and found a few things......
The timing was off, I set it 10 degrees and re stabbed the distributor...
I reset the valve lash on all cylinders....
Good spark....
Good fuel pressure.....
Tried to start again.....same $hit. Ok......went thru all all the vacuum lines,no problems there......
Then I notice something.........
When he pulled the hard heater lines on the passenger side manifold, he plugged the engine temperature sensor hole in the manifold and left the sensor unplugged.........
DOOOOHHH!!!! Could this have caused the problem he's having????? The car runs but only over 1500 rpm's or else it dies......Plugs are DEEP BROWN almost black and it smells like its running pig rich.............
Please, tell this is the problem so I can get the new sensor and be his hero......
