I recently sold my old daily driver and I can't make up my mind what to aim for. I had originally wanted an 87-88 Monte Carlo SS, but now my mind's going in other directions.

I would also like a Volvo 850 R, or maybe even an automatic notchback stang. What would you guys do? I'm also considering buying and selling 4-5 other cars to make more money off those so I won't be so broke after buying something to keep, but what would you do between a notch and a volvo R for a daily?

Here's the volvo in question for those that don't know it off hand.

    Compression ratio 8.5:1

With the criteria presented, the Vulva (assuming it's in good condition mechanically).

Otherwise my friend, you'd be the first guy in history with an SN95 weekend car and a Fox III DD. Obviously, it's normally the other way around. Now if it was an uber clean notch that could work but otherwise, I dunno how comfy or reliable a DD it would be...........

    Good luck with the decision.

    The Volvo, foxes are ghey.

(LOL- just did that in case any fox owners look in here. They always say that about SN's.):notnice:

I'm still tossing around the idea of getting one of these vs. fixing up the 'vert.

I'd go with the Volvo, just seems like an all-around more practical solution, and probably much more comfy and fuel-efficient to drive on a daily basis.
I'm also looking for a new DD to buy in January, and so far I'm thinking Lexus IS300 or Acura TSX (2003-2005 range). That, or a truck.

Reasons for a notch would be it wouldn't be black (PITA to keep clean here in AZ, and mooost likely wouldn't have leather, and if I got one it'd be an automatic. Reasons for Volvo would be better hook-ups on used parts (I'm in the parts/service business), The slightly better although not overly impressive gas milage, and it has an automatic as well, safety, more comfort. I had a 92 GT before my cobra and if I had to choose I'd take it over my Cobra. I'm pretty much set on a volvo, maybe even a 225 horse t5 non R version, but if a clean notch came up I'd have to think twice. I hardly ever see fox 3's at the dealer auctions anymore, and there's lots of volvos, and even non auction volvos can be had for not a whole lot of money with a little bit of milage on them. Just kicking around ideas for now and thinking out loud. :p

Nik, it really sounds like the Volvo is the way to go (for what you desire).

Or if you're not totally set on a Volvo, how about an Audi S-series or something along those lines (a la Duncan's 'winter' ride)?

I already have plans for my truck once I get the transmission back.

Mainly just a small lift and some cheap black steel wheels. Then once I get teh Stang how I want it (God knows how long) maybe a turbo. lol

What would I want for a daily driver?

    A supercharged 408ci '95 Mustang.:D

But between those two, I'd go with a nice low mileage fox.

Thanks for the comments all. An S60 R would be sweet but it's out of my range, I would only be able to afford an 850R. No matter what I get I will mod it to a degree lol. Gas isn't at the top of my priorites either but would be nice. So far I'm leaning on a volvo, even if it's not an R. I loved my 92' GT :( so much though that I know I'd be happy with another fox 3.

    My old fox
