All,
It is time to finally do what I have been talking about doing for a couple years now - finish my brake upgrade to '94+ Cobra specs, and I need your help to get my parts list right. I've been reading up on http://svo73mm.cjb.net , http://www.northracecars.com , and a couple other sites and they have proven to be of great assistance, but none of these sites list all of the little adapters, bolts, nuts, etc. that I am sure I will need. I need your help!
Here's what I want to do in this thread. Below, you will see the parts list I have come up with so far, along with links to EXAMPLES of what I am looking at. Please do not comment on my vendor choices - they are only examples, but if you have a good source for a particular item, post it up and I will change my link to the new link if it makes sense. In addition, please do not question the parts I am looking at unless I am mistaken in a parts combination. I am fairly set with what I want. As new parts are required, I will add it to the original list by modifying my original post. Wherever you can, please include links to the part I need, or at least include enough specs so I can find it myself. ***Once again, I especially need help with identifying and finding all the misc nuts, bolts, etc. that I will need with buying new, upgraded hardware and not just doing a stock replacement***

Well here goes, and thanks upfront for everyones help on this!

I PM'd one of the mods over in tech to see if he would move this tread over there...might get a little more help.

It's a good idea I think to polish this list and I feel a writeup coming that could be helpful to many.

I've never heard a 5.0 rev past 5.5k that I can remember. In fact I doubt the one I'm working on now has been past 5k in it's life.

the calipers you have linked are loaded with pads already, so you can cross that off your list. you might need to change the banjo bolt too depending on what year the calipers you have already are and what year new calipers you get. id also shop around for some braided stainless front lines too if you haven't already, maximum motorsports makes a set that already has the correct fittings (and banjo bolts) to adapt the fox front lines the the cobra calipers (again, dont know if you have those already or not, but im mentioning it anyway).

I take it you want to keep stock track? Well you already have the axles.

Buy the NC brackets...but then buy the FMS-M2300-M kit...unless you really want slotted rear rotors which IMHO don't do a thing.

http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=477

Sell the Cobra brackets that you don't need. They will be in demand and go for some decent money. You might even get $100 for the pair of brackets.

Looks like you got everything else covered

Yeah, i'd stay the hell away from the slotted drilled rotors, unless you lose to clean an excessive amount of brake dust off your rims.

I wouldn't waste my time with the booster either, it's more work for no reason.
I used the 93 cobra MC, and it was fine with Bullit 13's and cobra rears.
Along with the northracecar brackets for the rear.

And don't be afraid to use the v6 rear setup, it's the same as the cobra stuff except the parts are cheaper and the rotors are NOT vented. You can even get used v6 or gt rear parts, and widen the calipers with a good chop saw with the right blade on it. (learned this from the northracecar guy).

I also got the proportianing valve plug from my ford dealer for like $8, LMR is a rip off on almost all pricing. I only would get stuff there that you can't get anywhere else.

Dont' forget the washers to raise up the spindle.

Thanks! Done

You might need to change the banjo bolt too depending on what year the calipers you have already are and what year new calipers you get.
I have '94 calipers on the car now. It looks like there are specific banjo bolts for the calipers I want, so I'll add them.

I already have adapted SN95 lines, but with all that I am doing, I should probably upgrade my lines to stainless now. Are these the correct lines for the front? http://www.maximummotorsports.com/s...roduct_info&manufacturers_id=&products_id=684

I don't want drilled and slotted - only slotted. Keep in mind, I only drive my Stang 1-2K miles per year so I won't see much brake dust anyway.

Mustang5L5 - you still around? Didn't you say that you upgraded your booster to a '93 Cobra model because your brake pedal was real stiff?
If I don't need it, great! I was only listing it because I thought I HAD to upgrade it.

Aren't the rear Cobra rotors bigger than V6/GT? If not, then I'll switch.

Dont' forget the washers to raise up the spindle.
Thanks, but don't forget, I already have SN95 spindles installed. Besides, I pushed in SN95 ball joints to eliminate the need for spacers.

I have a 94-95 V6 MC in my car. I upgraded to that because the pedal was stiff. The '93 Cobra MC is easier to install and will give you basically the same feel. If i were to do it again, this would be the part i would install. You can try using the Fox MC and see if you like the feel with the new brakes. All up to you.

cobra rotors are 11.65" in diamter and vented (about 3/4" thick). The Gt/V6 rotors are 10" in diamter and solid. (1/2" thick). They use the same caliper. If you are going Cobra front, i would do the cobra rears as well.

My 2003 GT has 13" front rotors with the stock 10" rear rotors and bullitt wheels. #1....it looks stupid when you look from the side. You have huge front brakes and puny rear ones. #2, they balance is off. I can tell the car has waaay too much bias to the front when i stop. On a lighter fox, you may be able to adjust in more rear brake with the prop valve.

Put it this way. cost is going to be virtually the same for the rear. Cobra rear brakes all the way!

gotcha on the ball joints.

I've had no complainst without the booster, brakes seem normal to me.

The rotors may be slightly larger, but it's some minimal number. Key to it, is buying the correct brackets from northracecars.com. You will need to know before you get the brackets.
If this was roadrace, i'd say go vented, but for just tooling around town and cruising, i'd say do what's cheapest.
I know for a fact widening the calipers works. Which is good because i think cobra calipers demand more money.
I have the cobra rear setup, but it was based on deals i found on ebay on parts.

I think the price of this plug has gone up across the board. I bought it from summit for $8 years ago when i made an order for other ****. Now it's $20 there too

Ford might have it for cheaper...or might not.

It's just a 1/8 brass NPT plug. I wonder if we can just use a simple NPT plug for $0.50 rather than paying $20 for it.
