C&L or BBk with SCT tuner

Im looking to buy the SCT tuner and a cold air intake from brenspeed.com I know a lot of guys swear by the C&L but is there really a difference between that and the BBK. The BBK is 60 dollars cheaper. If I were to get the BBK isthere a noticable performance gain/loss compared to the C&L? Is one more restrictive then the other?

Numerous people in the Mustang Club I'm in are running the JLT CAI as well as many on here that are happy with it. It is even $45 cheaper than the BBK. I'd say all 3 are going to be within a couple of HP of eachother. Me personaly, I'd pick the C&L over the BBK anyday. I wanted something a tad different so that is why I chose the WMS.

the DeMolet and JLT are the best value at brenspeed. similar power gains and a very attractive price to boot. IMO, theres not $100 more performance in the C&L to justify the price. i am not knocking C&L at all, its a very nice piece that has proven power gains and is finely constructed. i am simply comparing them from a financial standpoint.

Well I actually traded a NOS bottle that i picked up dirt cheap(60 bucks)

I have a custome tune now with a X Cal II.Im used to carbs and screw drivers, but do i need another tune to use the C&L or the can the X Cal II do it for me??? Is there a big power difference with a custom tune vs. the tuner?

you will need a new tune. a custom dyno tune will maximize the power for your specific car. the canned tunes are considered a safe tune for most vehicles. since your buddy hooked you up with the dyno tune last time, have him do the same for the CAI. :nice:

Out of the two I'd go C&L.

I already have the K&N cai, but no tune. Should I just get the tune or is the C&L worth the extra $250? How much more hp should I expect from the C&L tuned than a K&N tuned?

I agree with your post in one respect, but have a counterpoint to make. IMO, the C&L looks better than the others mentioned. I had a densecharger in my 2001 GT and it looked like home depot had invaded my engine bay. Call me vain, but I was a little embarassed to pop my hood. For $100, it may be worth it for some people. In DeMolet's defense, their units have improved in appearance.

I'm going to consult with two of the better known tuners and get their opinion based on my overall plan and go from there.

If the JLT would have been out in early 2005 I would have went with it. You get about the same from both, although the C&L sure looks sweet and might be a better intake for nitrous applications.
