Hello all -
I'm building a 90 thru 93 coupe - although I haven't bought the car yet - building the motor 1st - I have a vintage (1971) 2V 351 windsor block - (when I took it apart the bearings were stamped 1970) - it's .30 over / new cam bearings - stock crank is gd (polished / not undersized) stock rods - with new hypereutecic 'speed-pro' pistons (flat tops w/the 4 valve reliefs) - put on the rods ...

I ordered the new 'E" street edlebrock heads - 60cc combust / 1.90 valve intake - springs can handle .550 lift

Gives the motor about 10.5 to 1 compresson -

I plan on running a 650 cfm carb - on a 2181 edlebrock intake - street use only - would like a little to a lot of rumble - but streetable / low end torque - I wrote in to comp cams and asked suggestions - but they were kinda iffy with what they said - will list below what I'm thinking and what comp cam said as well ....let me know what you guys think -

XE268H- xrtreme energy (.510 lift /.512 Ex - 110 lobe center ) (my first choice) comp said I'd get the most HP and TQ - but it will be the 'most' 'tickey' sounding w/the lifters??.....this is the one I was going to buy

270H magnum (.500 lift 110 lobe center ) comp said this will make a little less power (more lope) not as much lifter 'tick' - (second choice) - perhaps the one

Thumpr's - I have the mutha thumprs on my 07 Gt and I love them - comp said the thumpr will make good power and TQ and it will 'sound' the best - but it will make the Least amount of vacuum - which I've heard is very bad for these motors
thumprs for a 351w range in lift - (.512/In.498Ex) (.501/In.486ex) (.490In/.475ex)

Isky split lift - .450/.445 was reccommended

then others

275 duel energy - .477 intake / .510 EX - 110 center

270 xtreme 4x4 cam - ( I like this - but it will run good??) .512 in / .531 EX 111 lobe center

that's about all of the ones I researched - any help or suggestions would be great - I want it to run good... I plan on running pwr brakes steering and air....but since I'm 'building it new' want the most punch for all of the money I'm dropping......let me know.....

I am running a comp 280H cam with .512"/.512" lift in my vintage 351w powered 87 lx. The cam sounds and feels great. I'm making 12" of vacuum at idle with it, there is a little lifter noise with it but it's not bad at all.
