I got a convertible top for Christmas and I want to install it. Unfortunately the top came with a plastic window insert instead of glass. The manufacturer of the top is EZon Auto Tops. I was figuring I could just buy and install a glass insert from them but it's not quite that simple.

We searched around for a distributer and found one a couple that would sell to the public. One of them has the insert in stock for $223, and the other had it for $350.

    WOW!!

Dallas mustang sale a complete top with glass for 309 plus shipping.

They also sale the glass insert for $170.

    So what should I do?

I found this place on the distributers lis of the EZon site. Has the glass for $167. I'm making a broad assumption that it's an EZon insert since it's an EZ on distributer...I'd call first...

THe link won't take you all the way. You will have to navigate to COnvertible Tops, FOrd, and so on. But it looks like you can order right off the site.

Install the top you have, buy the glass if/when you have money. Then install. If anything ever happens you have a back up window.

Another option would be to sell the top, put top down, install tonnue cover, use as a roadster and only drive the car on sunny days.
