Well gentlemen ,I think my 96gt motor is telling me its time to replace it ,its been bucking slightly for about 5 months now, but i could not locate the problem,i changed everthing electrical, well the other day it started doing it again only harder ,i got home from work and my wife says she smelled radiator fluid burning,i checked the radiator and it was very low,i checked the oil, no pudding, for those who have blown a head gasket they'll now what i'm talking about,so the only thing i can think of is that the head gasket has blown between the cylinders,or the plastic intake maybe leaking into the cylinders,it was replaced 3 years ago but not with the upgraded intake ,tell me what you guys think? i did a pressure check and two cylinders were at 90 psi,i think i'm going to put in a 99 motor ,what will have to be done to do this swap?:SNSign:

yes i've changed the wires with frpp 9mm ,and the plugs are autolite 742,new coil packs ,alt, its not throwing a check engine light ,i'm thinking it might be the intake manifold gasket or the npi intake?

Somewhat relevant: I checked the price on a new motor from a local dealership (PI Motor) and the total was $1999, but that's a special price  I'm sure it's quite more expensive when not getting the special discount.

well i live in columbus, georgia, mustang parts specialist os salvage is in winder ,georgia ,i can get a whole motor from oil pan to intake for about 1100 hundred bucks,is the swap easy ,i know i will have to change to coil packs i think because 99+ is cop,i was wondering if i would have to change the computer or anything else ,but for the time being i might change the npi intake with a pi intake, and see if the intake manifold gasket is blown ,its not leaking outside the motor just inside.

Ok, this exact thing actually happened to me this past summer, on my 96 GT. I had my intake replaced about 2 years ago now after the first one cracked, and all was well and good. I only drive the car about 3 months out of the year, so it has taken it a little while to show, but what the car was doing was in fact leaking antifreeze into a cylinder, as you mentioned. On the back of the intake where there is a coolant line, the fitting is made of metal. Where the metal was meeting the composite intake, coolant was leaking into the number 4 cylinder. Now, my mechanic said it has probably been doing it for a while, but it has just taken some time for the boot on my plug wire to wear out enough to let it in the cylinder. I ended up having to have my intake replaced again, but luckily my dealership did it for me for free this time. what you need to do is just take the boot off and take the plug out and look, when I did mine, the smell of coolant was very strong. On the bad side though, the coolant could have seized the plug to the head if its been going on this long, so i would do it soon, as you might be looking at a new top end anyways. Good luck

If thats the case, pick you up some used PI cams (or new;)) and put them in as well since the car is already down :nice:

Picking up 35 to the wheels will make it worth it.

If he's getting a 99+ motor from oil pan to intake he's already gonna have PI cams.

I was said that if i replace the intake with a pi intake everyone says you will need the rtv the gasket on the intake were it doesn't fit ,i was looking at both the intake gaskets the only difference i could see is 2 cone looking nipples on the npi gasket is that what has to be rtv'ed????
