I picked up some 2002 PI cams to install in my 96 GT. However, I am wondering if I should replace the valve springs while I'm at it. I know replacing the springs is a PITA while the heads are on the block. My car has 79k easy miles and the only "mod" the engine has is a CAI. Anybody's experience with this? What do you suggest? Thanks for the help.

The part numbers for the NPI head and the PI head valve springs are the same, and supposed to be good to @ .525 lift. I put in Comp Cams with .495 lift and did not change springs, but my motor only has 55K on it. I think I would change them if I had the miles on the motor you do. After looking at how they are set up when I changed my cams, I would definately reccomend buying the valve spring tool. It would be money well spent.
