Hey guys, I've found a lot of great deals on ebay but never really considered buying a car from ebay. Does anyone have any personal experience with buying cars from ebay? Just a lil curious.

Here's an 03 Cobra w/30k miles going for $22,700 for example:

p.s. sorry if this is the wrong forum--- figured svt owners would have best feedback

i personally have bought 3 vehicles from ebay. all three were good. make sure that the owner posts very detailed pics. ask any and all questions before bidding, and go see it if you can. a $500 trip to see a junker is better than spending $25,000 on a junker. many people have had their car shipped, but i always pick it up in person, and only give a deposit at end of auction. i know of 5 other cars that have been purchased from ebay by my friends with success. just make sure it is a good seller with as many feedbacks as possible, and NO negatives. see what else they sell. if they sell a bunch of $1 stuff, then try to sell $25,000 items, then it becomes suspicious.

I dont see why you wouldnt buy from ebay... its pretty much the same thing as if you were driving down the road and spotted the car for sale on the side of the road. Its just another form of advertising for the sale.

Looks ok to me. I use Ebay often. Never had a bad experiance. I always check the sellers feedback though, And NEVER buy anything from someone that is selling for the first time.

I trust eBay, but I don't always trust the people who sell stuff on eBay! :D

There are a lot of car sale scams on eBay, but they are easy to spot as long as you do a little research before bidding.

Personally I would never buy a car off eBay unless I was able to inspect it firsthand and drive it prior to final payment.

How did financing work out for you guys?
    Can trades work on ebay....
say for example i made a deal that they (maybe a dealership) would give me $9-10k for my car if I put down the difference in cash/credit card (i owe $13k on my car) to pay off my current lien then finance the new car, pretty much with 0 down... I'm so desperate to get rid of my car mannnn this sucks. can't find any Cobras around me for under $29,000.

Financing a car, or putting the amount you can't get for an existing car on a trade in, on a credit card is always a bad idea. You'll pay far too much in interest and in the long run wind up farther in the hole than you are now.

As hard as it is to accept, you are better off paying off your existing car and then looking at buying an 03/04 Cobra. Plus, they'll be less expensive then.

i'm very scared about my credit card balance being $4200.00. won't i just be paying the interest everymonth and it never will go down? i may try a small personal loan then...

    EBay Buyers

:SNSign: EBay is generally great place to look. I have seen some scams. I have personally sold 2 vehicles (99 E250 Conversion Van & 95 F-250) recently. Friends have bought several cars. Try to inspect vehicle before final purchase I would recommend. Look at feedbacks. That will give you an ideal of their history. Good luck
