Door won't unlock

Anyone having a problem with the driver's door not unlocking? My door lock (the long pin or whatever it is called) sometimes strikes the trim piece and won't unlock. I have to enter the car from the passenger side and use the inside door handle. When I do that, the trim piece flies off and the door unlocks. Is this a common problem?

This would be the first time that I have seen a problem like that in any of the forums. Sounds like a warranty issue to me.....

You know whats funny is i just had to fix this problem with my car (gti)
it ended up being the cylinder inside the door handle was broken
possibly this is whats wrong with your car but they are 2 totally different machines so im not sure if you can compare
