Heya all... Are there any driving games out there for the PC that are worth a crap? I dusted off my old copy of Need For Speed - Hot Pursuit 2 and I gotta tell ya.... It just plain sucks. Absolutely ZERO realism. Cop cars that out accelerate well... EVERYTHING.... squirrely controls.... opponents that plow right into you and totally screw up your car and go unaffected with not so much as a scratch... The list goes on. E.A. has always sucked (so far as I know).... Who else makes a driving game that's worth playing? I'd prefer something that makes full use of my Wingman Formula Force, as well. Thanks, Daggs
Thats one arena where Ive found that the console games actaully seem to be better than the PC's. Ive been playing Project Gotham 3 on my x360 quite a bit lately, and it is the most realistic driver Ive ever seen. All the cars handle and drive like they should, the rear drives just FEEL different that the AWD's. Plus theyve got I think 8 different Fords, and not a single ricer, so you cant beat that.
NFS Porsche Unleashed is a great game..probably the best in the series. I'm not a gamer so I'm probably not much help beyond that.
Dunno how it is on the PC, but TOCA Race Driver 3 for the PS2 fuggin' ROCKS for realism. Realistic damage effects, tire and braking physics, weight shifting, torque, front/rear-wheel/AWD dynamics, all that jazz. Sound is pretty excellent, too, and they don't have the same annoying generic techno/rock/pop crap playing over and over in the background - NO music at all (except in menus). There's a couple of Fords here and there in there ... well, sorta, anyway (high-end race-only stuff with a Ford motor in it) ... but the big draw is the physics, the graphics, and the fact that they have everything in there from go-karts to Indy Cup, rallycross to monster trucks, midget dirt track racers to NASCAR-ish stock cars, and so on - just about any pro race sport with four wheels you can imagine. Just saw a new Ford Racing: Bold Moves game for the PS2, as well, but if it's anything like the past two or three Ford Racing games, you'd best just fugeddaboudit, unless you just have a total fetish for games with Fords in them. Never could get much into the Gran Tourismo series. Game was too darned strict to allow for any bangin' around racing or anything less than 100% perfect laps just to place a qualifying time. I'll only give the very original Need for Speed game props for the fact that I literally learned how to drive a stickshift from playing that game. When will they come out with a Carmageddon 4? That's MY kind of realism...
the only REALISTIC games i've played were the gran turismo games. its so real alot of people dont even play them, dont have the patience. and its hard for me to play them. so real its hard. only others i liked were the NFS underground games. were fun but not too realistic. something about taking a 90 degree turn in a city at 130 just didnt seem right to me. but it was fun ;D
Andy, Best game out there is forza motorsport for realizm.. you'll like it.. its tough if your to use to the crap job handling of the old nascar games where you move in motions of 15 degree angles LOL Later, Steven
Do you have a steering wheel for the computer? One of the best driving games ive ever played (besides MCO) is Live for Speed. http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=fp Its an online game, also has single player though. Not very well known, demo is free, the full version is worth it if you get into the demo. You can play with alot of people the physics in the game are almost perfect. Id check it out, its not fun unless you have a steering wheel though. You can get hooked into it VERy easily, you can set your car up for drag, handling, drifting, thers alot of aspects of the car you can adjust. I saw you have a wheel, DEFINATLY download this game, youll be hooked on it for hours, and you can change the axis of the wheel so you can use one of the pedals as a clutch and make a button the brake, not good for racing, but makes it fun if your messing around, you can spend hours on that game just messing around, trying setups, doing weird things, and when your ready you join a game and race like 13 people. Like I said, once you get into the demo, the extra 12 bucks for the full version is DEFINATLY worth it, some of the tracks are badass and the cars are very fun!
As far as my fav game ever... Need For Speed Underground 2. Not at all real but fun. FORZA Motorsport is not at all there with graphics, but has to be the single most true to life game when it comes to actual racing. There's some articles out there.
The difference between Live for speed and most video games is you can do what ever you want, in most games you pick career, you pick a car, win races, easy stuff, buy some parts, same parts as everyone else, win some more races and its over. Live for speed, you can change every aspect of the car so that EVERY car is different, and you dont ALWAYS beat the game because its people online so theirs always a new challenge, and the fact that every car is different makes it better then any other xbox live game out there. Plus using a steering wheel is the best thing for the most realistic driving, trust me daggar, if you want to get the most out of your wheel, download Live for Speed, best thing is you dont even have to leave your seat to go buy it
The best one I've played is an older game that came out around 2001 I think, it came with my wingman formula force. Its called Sports Car GT, its a great game that allows complete control of the gearing, performance, and suspension of your race car, it also has a few saleen mustangs, panoz race cars, and a ton of other awesome racecars to choose from.
i agree, but i like the drag racing the need for speed offer.. thats pritty Real! well as life like as it gets !
lol ive only seen like 2 gamesa in my life that have a fox. This game dosent have real cars, but the cars in it are pretty damn cool!
um the ford racing game, and street legal racing redline where someone modeled some ghetto ass foxbody
