I swapped my I6 for a V8 and I've pretty much got everything back together but I have a problem.

There's a thick black wire (I'm guessing 8-10 gage maybe?) on the passenger side that I have no idea where it should go. At the end of the wire there's a small metal box with a metal loop hanging out for bolting the box to something. The metal box says 20A so I think it's a fuse.

My first thought was alternator, but I'm just not sure and I don't want to fry anything. I have a picture, but no means for posting it.

Sounds like it might be the wire for your ammeter.
Maybe that's it. If so where would it connect?

I've been all through my shop manual looking for the part and I can't find this any where. The only thing I found that looks similar is a box-shaped fuse that connects to the battery side of the starter solenoid for 1965-66 convertible tops. I found it in my Mustang Restoration Guide. However, the diagram in the book for 1969 and 70 convertibles doesn't show the little box. It's just a wire hooked up to the same location (probably a fusible link?)
