for the 87-93 mustang radio, is the hook up for the wiring harness in the back different say from a tempo or taurus. What about later years? So could a taurus radio plug and play in a mustang(87-93). Is it the same size? What other cars had this interchange?

I chased this rabbit a few weeks ago. According to the J/Y guys, Mustang radios are unique, and other car's radios won't work. I am not so sure about that.

See the attached document for help on the wiring diagam. You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

some are common ground, which means you have to get an adaptor, or rewire your complete system. Some are amplified, which also means the same thing, and some are just the regular Ford harnesses, which are the 2 horizontal plugs, one black, one gray. You want to have a local/credible shop look at it and they'll tell you what has to happen. Don't be surprized if they tell you it will take a lot of rewiring and maybe new speakers at the same time.
