A guy in my area who attends all the local car shows has a 06 mustang. This mustang is dressed up to look like a Shelby. He calls it the 06 Shelby prototype. This car has a 6 cyl. engine, the dash and trunk has the Carol Shelby signature, black vinyl stripes, the vinyl Cobra decal down the sides of the car on the front fender. Has a Shelby vin plate on the shock tower and a hood scoop that is attached with sheet metal screws. I believe this car is a fake! It has a 6 cyl. engine without a turbo and single exhaust out the back. When at the car shows he has trophies placed in front of the car and documentation which are probably fake also. Can someone here tell me if this is a true Shelby prototype??????????
You can get Shelby's signature on anything for a price. And you get certificates of authenticity with them. I don't know if that's what he has or not, but it could be. Decals, emblems, etc. are all readily available. I can't say for certain, but if there had been a Shelby prototype, why wouldn't it have been a V-8? I have never heard of one, and I read lots of stuff about Mustangs and Shelbys. Shelby does have a kit to convert a 6 cylinder into a "Shelby." My guess is it is a fake with some "real" Shelby items, maybe even genuine Shelby signatures. But that does not make it a Shelby.
I wouldn't know if it was authentic or fake, but here are some pics of a guy in one of the clubs I belong to which sent his stock V6 out to Shelby in Vegas and had it transformed into the supercharged C6. He has a photo album with pics of the build and pics of he and Carrol together.
I've never heard of Shelby producing a Natural 6 Banger. For what it's worth...I work for FoMoCo. The guy must be a Dreamer......
The CS6 and the Terlingua are the only 6's that I know of. The Terlingua looks nothing like what you described, and the CS6 came with a Paxton supercharger. Sounds like someone made a nice replica.

What is a Shelby Cobra, oh9Mustang? I am convinced more and more that the car described initially is a fake.
Yeah I really hate posers like that. I remember back in 2005 I went to a car show and this guy took a 05 GT and put a whole bunch of cobra snakes on the car. He had the hood down with a sign saying 05 cobra. When I talked to the owner I asked how do you have a 05 cobra when they don't even make one. He said it is a cobra because he made it into one. My response was so you just bought a GT mustang and put a whole bunch of Cobra snakes on it. He just looked at me and didn't say anything.
yea i hate fakers, maybe i should just make my gt 500 into a gt or maybe a v6 and take all the cobra stuff of haha!!
You'd have one heckuva sleeper that way! That's the route I went: I took off the GT emblems and put on the V6 Pony emblems, and replaced my GT grill and foglamps with the V6 Pony grill and foglamps. Most everyone thinks it's a V6 Mustang, until I pop the hood and they see a supercharged V8.
It doesn’t bother me at all to swap parts from different models or companies like Roush, Saleen, Shelby for a new look. Just don’t pass it off as one, or try too. I will label you a fail.
stanmckinney "What is a Shelby Cobra, oh9Mustang" It was in Jest. There is no such thing as a Shelby Cobra , Unless your talking AC, just as there is no such thing as a Shelby BLahhh, 6 cylinder. Sorry about the Blahhh but I talk that way when 6 cylinder comes up. I think Shelby is a jerk, I met him one time. but even a jerk would not put his name on a 6.
