Final Drive Ratio Question

Since installing my new tires I've noticed my gear ratios have become very short. 1st only goes up to like 20 at redline, 2nd around 45, 3rd can maybe take 70, and so on. The car still has the Automatic Rear end gear in it, even though I'm running with a T-5. The tires are very low profile on 15's, so that combined with the lower rear end gear is the culprit. I like the acceleration that this tight gearing allows, but not really the shortness of the gears. So, I am wondering if anyone would like to guess weather or not dropping the standard manual rear end gear back in would kill the accel too much, and I'd hate it. Right now even 5th gear will pick up and go on level ground or less. But I think it stiffles the Theoretical top speed as well. As I discovered on one of my local safe deserted roads earlier, 'pegged out' has me at about 4 grand. So it seems like theres a little more to go, but wouldn't the other gear be even better?
