Floorpans

I'm in the planning stages of replacing/patching my floor pans. If I'm replacing a good portion of the driver side front pan, do I need to move/remove the fuel line? How close is too close when it comes to welding near a fuel line? I know its right there next to the frame rail.
Any tips or advice for someone that has never welded before? I'm picking up a Lincoln welder from Home Depot in the next couple of days. I know MIG is the prefered way to go but I can't justify that upgrade right now so I'm going the flux core route.

Flux core will be fine for your project.

You will have to remove the line or you are asking for trouble - it is the easiest thing you'll do in this project.

The best tip I can give is to practice with you welder on some scrap before jumping in.

Good luck...
