Front clip on; Spring rates?

I got my front clip from the struts forward on and my tubular k-member and a-arms on, what spring rates should I go with? I don't know that much about coil over shocks and struts, after selecting a spring rate can I lower and raise my car to where I want it, or does it just adjust the firmness of the spring?
