ARRRRGGGHHHH!

I'm having a heck of a time installing some new front wheel bearing DUST CAPS on my stock GT. My old ones were leaving several small lines of grease on the wheel.

What is the trick to putting these babies on?

They seem to be slightly too large but I know they are built that way to provide a good seal. Still can't get 'em on.

What is the secret technique? Thanks.

Did you get the caps at CSK (PartsAmerica)? Just curious because I was looking at getting those (they're like 3 bucks each).

I have had luck trying to 'screw' tight caps on. I apply a little pressure while doing so and they find the right spot and start to thread on. Note that with them that tight, they will probably try to push back off (seems to me that air gets trapped in there). Again, spin them and push and the air tends to seep out pretty good.

Good luck.

Install them the same way you'd install something like your rear main seal. Get it started, and walk around it, tapping it into place all the way around. It'll go, but it might be a PITA.
