gears

Hey guys, thinking of getting gears for my car... What should i get 4:10's or 3:75's... and when i buy gears, what else should i buy to compliment them...and what gears are the best brands? Lastly, how much would i be spending with the cost of labor included?

search, 'cause I know there are answer out there

It is, but here you go anyway -

For an auto - go with 4.10's. Stick, 3.73.
Get Ford Racing Ring & Pinion Gears
Ford C75 Track-Lok is decent enough, or go with Auburn, or the highend Eaton ($500 or so).
Get appropriate speedo gear - any make - it's plastic.
Get install kit or rear end master bearing kit - Yukon is nice.

You didn't mention what year Mustang. If it is a 99+, then head over to Dallas Mustang or try this site for the calibration unit istead of speedo gears.

Install on the gears should run no more than $250. Search around for a shop that does this kind of work all day long, or you'll end up paying upwards of $500. It took me two weeks to find a rear-end only shop, but the quality of work, and experience behind the work was well worth the wait! :nice:

Gears - $200
T-Lok - $170
Install Kit - $80
Rear axle bearing - $22
Labor - $250
oil/modifier - $25

Total around $750.

Worth it - HELL YA!!!
