It does have race history. But it wasn't in the LeMans race itself. It was wrecked during a test run, but I forget who was driving it. I'll make a phonecall and let you all know. Yea I was a little off with the years. Maybe the have the most wins period in LeMans. I forget, but yes you are right I should have brushed up on it, my apologies. I'll get more info for you guys..

    gt40 history

was that the car wrecked during tire resting? If so, I saw it in 1981 in Lafeyette Calif. at a car show. I parked my 914/6 right next to it and spent the day kibitzing about GT40 and Shelby history with the owner. he had bought it from Ford, post crash.

Might be a different car, but you never know.

Oh, I am finishing the tune on our S351. Numbers soon.

I believe that it was wrecked during tire testing. But this wasn't the same car, he found the body in England I believe in 2000 and then shipped it to Sears Point were he rented a shop and started to rebuild it. This car has never been out in public or seen by anyone, except close friends until now. But i'll have to look into that car you were talking about..

HHMM. I think the car I speak of was wrecked by ther hei to the Revlon fortune? Forget the name for the moment. I woulod have remembered it 3 glasees of Pinot ago, plus I drove my old car today and I sniffed a little too much leaded 110. Oh well.

Maybe in the morning. I still have some very old photo's of the GT40 and owner in a shoe box. I'm talking older than most of you...including Marcus!

    Nice Dan,

Not to hijack, but I bet these guys don't even know what the -6 is when talking about a 914. Two totally different cars. Nice.

    Cobra,

We are honored to see the only new pictures out in the public. Share some more. The GT-40 is American Racing royalty.

I take a (very minor) offense to your comments, Marcus, that nobody her knows what a 914/6 is! The the Porsche 914 was a most craptacular car, largely made by Volkswagen (full VW engine and drivetrain) with the Porsche marque slapped all over it. The 914/6 was the actual Porsche version, with a rightful Porsche 6 cylinder engine, same as in the 911 of the day. Also, lets try to forget about the Porsche/Audi made 924 in the historical account of lesser Porsches'.

Ha ha ha. You must be one of the older guys around like Dan and myself. How can you be offended? You are new to the thread. I don't post anything to offend (even minor). Maybe you are having a bad day?

Former 914-6 owner here. :D Closest thing to the ground you could buy back then that had balls.
