It's the first time I will be swapping a dizzy, and I really really want to keep the timing close without issues... To my best knowledge...
1. Grab the firing order diagram:
2. Label the wires to the by sparkplug and on Cap connections so ah don't putz it up... somehow after.
3. Disconnect TFI
4. Pull Rotor Cap. Retain same alignment of rotor by matching "it" to the block/stationary location with sharpie and straight edge.
5. Grab my knuckles and wrench and whip off the retaining bolt.
6. Turn counter clockwise SLIGHTLY to not throw of timing and lift straight up to pull out the crapped Dizzy and toss her aside. TURN SLIGHTLY to prevent fouling the timing, but will be needed b/c of gear cut pattern.
7. Make sure the new sucker is all lubed and such. With rotor cap off new dizzy, smoothly lower it into place with slight clockwise twist to seat properly and at the same time match the rotor to the lines marked on the block/solid point in Step 4.
8. Everything is all smooth and seated properly, now timing should be pretty close considering all the internal guts match.
9. Consult with the diagram in Step 1 and get all good and right reinstalling the Plug Wires that are now so nicely labeled for easy reinstall.
Any other advice... Want to get my rig back on the street. Car is turboed, so this has me anxious to get the timing close to correct.
Thanks for any input.
