They think since it says 10-15k miles before replacement for the oil filter that they dont have to replace it every 3k miles as they change the oil. What they dont know is that old oil filter is holding 1qt of bad oil and will contaminate the rest of the oil on start up....so why change your oil in the first place right?? I have been buying the K&N filter for $12 and the Castrol full synthetic for $4.50qt...I switched from Mobil1 since John Force sponsors Castrol..it has to be good. =)

Reason I asked is last time I checked it the dipstick was showing it to be low, halfway between the max and min mark My dad had checked it Sunday and it was the same for him, Its not burning any and its not leaking any

anywhere between the max and min is fine, and in the middle is perfect..but yea..they take a whole 6 quarts, which BTW will only get you between the max and min mark

How long are you letting the car sit before checking the stick? Are you on level ground?
Also the 4.6L engine really needs to be at the full mark or the valvetrain does not get enough lube.

We let it sit for about 10 minutes and it was on level ground both times.

Last time i did oil on my car I think it ended up being little over full. And i used 6Qt

5 for 99-00

Ford says 02 and down GTs use 5qts, 03+ GTs 6qts. Doesn't make much sense though. Whenever I do an oil change on one I just go by the owners manual.

The dipsticks are mismarked. Ford issued a TSB for this a few years ago, warning not to overfill. 6.0 qts is correct for the '03 GT.
