Since Motive is manufacturing the 4.30s for FRPP, is the Motive high performance series the same gear as the FRPP 4.30?

The 4.30's in my 03 Mach 1 made absolutely no noise (still don't) and were FRPP gears. I work at a Ford dealership, and the tech that did the install is awesome. Shimmed them correctly and the install was done right the first time. He's done a few gear swaps for me now. I think the installer makes a huge difference in the outcome of the swap.

I was looking at the gear-to-rpm-to-mph chart that I have in excel format. (I can post it if anyone would like a copy) I need to rev to 6500-6600 rpm to acheive 60 mph in second gear with the current stock wheels and the Nitto 555s. I guess these gears are more for the Mach1s and the Cobras given that they are designed to rev higher. I really don't feel comfortable about about reving the car that high everytime I race it. If shifting around the stock redline I really done see how the 4.30 would be faster than the 4.10s (Correct me if I am wrong). Still not sure about future mods, it all depends on what the redesigned Mustang's look like and what powerplant they may have. So I am still not 100% sure about the future power level of me car. Just keeping it simple right know.

Again, what RPM are you at when you go through the traps? I'm assuming with 4.10's your in 4th when you hit the traps, correct?

I don't remember the RPM through the traps, it's been awhile since I have been to the quater mile. Since I moved back home after graduating, there is no longer a track here anymore. They are plaining a track around here very soon. My trap speed was between 105-106 with my current mods minus the driveshaft, UDP, new tires, and the Brenspeed/Bamachips tunes. I would have to look at the chart to estimate the RPM. Yes I would shift to 4th.

With the 27.2" tire I was crossing the line at around 5200 RPM in 4th. I had my shift points set for 6500 RPM.

I would like to hear from people that have the 4.30 gears, it really doesn't seem that there are many people that have this ratio. Most of the N/A S197s have 4.10s. Also how many of you S197s guys shift around 6500?

Sounds like 4.30's would put you right at redline, if you have similar mods to Kooldawg.

spyder7724 is running the 4.30s. I can't remember what size tire he runs, but it is quite tall. Perhaps PM him.

i should have read this thread before i posted one in the talk section...

i'm assuming it's advisable to do a re-flash for 4.10's once installed and change the redline to about 6800...i'm running 285/35/18's...is that right!

If Brenspeed did you tune, the default redline should be 6800. That's what both my cars were set at automatically.
