So today I found a crack in the back of my 89's muffler. I was thinking about replacing it with a flowmaster muffler or some other kind of performance muffler. what size exaust pipe do 2.3 mustangs have?

I believe the stock pipe size at the muffler is 2 1/4", but I'd recommend measuring to be sure. It might be 2".

Also, when I had a single flowmaster 40 series on my car way back when, I loved it.

I measured the pipe and it is 2 1/4. So I get the same size outlets on the muffler right? I dont know anything about welding exaust system parts together.

    Yep.

Take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it in there for you.

If it were my 2.3 I would not put a Flowmaster on it. They have a hollow sound and drone. I would get a Dynomax super turbo.
