If no mufflers = horsepower lose, how come everyone has cut-outs

on a stock or mildly modded engine you would lose power, on a heavily modded engine or completly built engine you wont because it doesnt need as much back pressure because of the amount of power its making

So much goes into the header design and exhaust that most do not understand. It's all physics, with sound waves and interference and on and on. Camshaft timing and header length and diameter have a huge interplay, and I doubt that stops at the header. If you want a good read on exhaust tech, go to

http://www.team-integra.net/sections/articles/listArticles.asp?Show=1

and scroll down to the exhaust section. There really is a ton of very valuable info there, so check it out. Don't worry about the fact that it is an import site; remember, those guys are getting stratospheric specific output.

The cops towed my car with the tranny off still under the car. Well they bent up all my mufflers and tailpipes. So I ran open headers for about a month. When I put the flows on I was kinda pissed cause it was alot slower. Mufflers = HP loss.
