My temp gauge stopped registering the other day. After a full day of diagnostics and searching, the technician finally settled on the instrument cluster (a small computer-like box) that relays signal from the sensor to the gauge. The whole part must be replaced (a $300 part + three hours labor!) http://forums.stangnet.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=10#

    1) Does this sound like a correct diagnosis. He said the sensor is good and sending dignal to the cluster, but the signal is not reaching the gauge from the cluster.

    2) Is there a cheaper source for such a part? I've thought about salvage, but I am told that it must be programmed with my mileage.

    Any ideas?
