    I got an offer the other night for $7000 on my car. Id be more than happy to turn over the keys for that price.

    So Im looking into a 96 cobra and ask my dad to look up the insurance rate on it. Being in the insurance business he calls a friend in the insurance business to get me a quote. For full coverage on a low milage 96 cobra its lookin close to $4900. Does this seem right. Its taking me back from selling the car. BTW im 18 w/ no accidents.

    So now Im lookin into a 95 cobra. Anyone care to share what they pay for insurance? Or know any ways to get a lower price on insurance.

    Half the battle might be my dad bein afraid of me having a cobra. But when he saw my consistant mid 15's at the track, and me loosing the a maxima(It was on sliks ok) He said I could do whatever to my car. And agreed to front a few grand for a h/c/i setup. But cringes at the sound of the 4.6 cobra w/ 305 hp. Kinda wierd huh.

    My questions are, what do you guys pay for insurance, and what can I expect to pay for a 95 cobra(Insurance wise)

    Right now Im paying just under $1000 a year because the car is under my sisters name. Im a primary driver on her car and vise versa. Gotta love a sister thats 25.lol.

    EDIT: BTW the insurance is coming off her name because she's now out of state so im gonna have to pay an increase anyway.

    DOHC 4.6 from 96-98. Revised DOHC 4.6 in 99 and 01.

    In my experience, insuring a Cobra usually costs *less* than a GT. Even my '99 Cobra convertible cost less to insure than my '95 GT coupe.

    GreenMustangGt: 96 was the first year of the modular four valve Cobra. 99 was a slight change in the design of the heads and intake (and the IMRC was deleted), but otherwise the engine was basically the same.

    What state do you live in? And do you have any tickets?

    I pay over 4k a year for my 95gt, but i have a few tickets. If your dad is willing to help you get an h/c/i settup, why not do that, and keep your car at 1k a year insurance, thats VERY cheap.

    Ill be getting a good h/c/i setup but thats for next winter. Im just gonna cruise this summer.

    I live in illinois and my record is clean. No accidents and no tickets.

    Anyone have a good idea on what a 95 cobra costs insurance wise? I know there's a few cobr guys in here.

    EDIT: BTW the insurance company caught up with us because when my sis tried to insur he car in california, the insurance company realized who was driving what car. :bang:

    I would say get a 94-95 v6 (to keep the 94-95 styling) drop in a nice 351 then add a turbo or two.

    Ummmm, for a daily driver that would be a beast. I dont think i could afford the gas or the tires it would go through.

    And yellow1995Cobra yup, im goin for the coup. I had the vert for the tale end of last summer and its just not my style.

    So i guess ttt for myself, anyone got insurance on a 95 cobra.

    I pay 246 Dollars every 6 months.. 19yrs old, 1 speed which i have no points for.... 100,000/300,000 liablity limits and 100/250 deductable.... I would at the insurance company and I get NO discount for being an employee... I will tell you now that the cobra is rated Higher than the GT but all and all your Credit Score has a big roll in it... FYI

    246 = 95 Mustang

    285 = 03 GT

    Thought Better throw that in there before anyone says anything..

    a good way to get lower insurance is to have you as the alterant drive or not even a driver at all. If you get a lower rate on your parents car go for that. But make sure your insurance will cover you driving other cars.

    Do you think Ill get a cheaper rate if im primary on my dads Benz, And he's primary on the Stang. :lol: I dont think so. Its obvious whose drivin what car. I dont think they'll buy it. BTW, just me and my dad live together so it just these two cars.

    Well lets simplify the question, like sorscode included in his post. What does everyone pay for insurance? Because if the convertable goes, ill be in a 94-95 coup.

    Why yes, yes it does! My own fault though, i have 6 tickets. It was 2400 at one time, not anymore though. In Mass, we have set insurance rates, and they are all ridculous. Even my mother, who is a step 9, pays 950 a year on her 98 Jetta, which is alot consdering what it would be in other states.

    I do have my 5 year driving thing coming up, so my rates will drop then. My car is only on the road 6 months outa the year now, so it was nice to have a whole winter of NO insurance payments (drove rents car). I will have a new f350 super duty by the end of the summer though, cant wait to see what two cars is gonna cost me :bang:
