You guys probably saw my other thread about HiTech Stage II cams. Well after doing some research they seem to be the best N/A 2v cams out.

I'm going to have a big build a head of me. I will be putting in the B&M Hammer shifter, Transmission J-mod, tranny cooler, mm full length sub frame connectors, hps harballer intake and custom dyno tune. After all that I hope to have a high 12 second N/A auto stang. I have had my car three years and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Congrats on your new upcoming mods! That should make for a quick auto coupe. I have heard nothing but good things about the Hi-tech's. One question on the cams. Are the listed lift specs correct? It seems odd to have .550 intake with a .500 exhaust lift.

Once all that is done, throw a 75 shot at it and hope for 11's!!!:D

Yes those specs are correct. Hitech favors more lift and duration on the intake than exhaust with their cams.

scupking, You are going to need a higher stall converter or some higher ratio gears for those cams since you have an auto. I suggest sticking with the stock PI manifold because the HPS will have heat soak after your engine has been ran for a while.

Are you putting them in yourself? I'm interested in doing something similar at some point.

It seems that the HPS would make more power then the stock PI intake. I have the crappy one with the plastic cross over. I could always get the newer PI intake but figured why not go with a better one.

I'm actualy going to haveing XXtuning install the parts and dyno my car.

what mods if any does HPS recommend you have when using this intake?

you have been talking about this intake for a while and Id like to research this unit more so I have a plan when my intake cracks. i dont want to spend the same amount of money for something that is stock if i can get something better.

    No modifications required at all.

is the 'coolant mod' dependent on which year stang you install it on? they dont go into detail of when you would need it.

Hps used to have dyno graphs of their manifold on a cammed N/A 4.6. It gained power except for between 4500-5500 rpm(just a rough guess) where it lost power. But the intake sits between your block and heads, so you can imagine how much heat that aluminum soaks up, and what it does to power.

Well it would save me $700 If I didn't get it. I'm just wondering if I can still get close to my 290-300rwhp mark without a new intake.

My suggestion is stay with the stock lower and get some long tubes, unless I missed something on your list. They Hitech cams will produce a significant power gain with longtubes. The 3.73s will love the cam, but you really need long tubes to take advantage of them.

The stock PI intake will support 500+ horsepower as is.

I would skip spending the extra dough on the intake and spring for some valve springs (...:D pun intended...). No, they may not be required, however why put more stress and load on your old stock springs since it's going to be apart anyway?

I also agree with BCB... throw some longtubes on it.

I also agree with the new valve springs. Cheap insurence. And longtubes FTW! Can't wait to hear how the cams work out

springs and LT's are great advice - I ALMOST went SLP LT's to fit my X, but it's just not worth being caught here. Cali Nazi gestapos are everywhere

I know hooker fits autos but what about mac. Hooker is kind of on the expensive side.

lol thanks Cobrared........I tell you I always go back an forth trying to decide on what to get. I'm very happy that I went with stage IIs. I will go with a new PI intake with the aluminum crossover. That will save me $600. I should still put down 290+ rwhp. I have been all over the place with mods. As of last week I was thinking of tradeing my car in for a 96-98 cobra. The dealer said he wouldn't trade because the cobra was a better car. Once I get these cams and Lts installed I will be killing the stock 96-01 cobra, 03-04 mach 1s and 05+ stangs.

290rwhp+ out of an auto with stock heads is hard - but you can be certain I want to see it too.
