K&N air filter

I just installed a K&N air filter on my 99GT and I noticed now that when I get on the gas while driving I can hear a hissing noise. It is more noticable at lower rpm's but I can still hear it in the higher rpm's aswell. Is this normal ?

yeah that should be music to your ears! thats just the air passing through the filter. You dont notice a big "gasp" sound when you slam on the gas? That sound is just the additional air flowing into the filter...the louder the better!

Before jumping up for joy make sure you put everythink back together right and do not have a leak.

I don't think the filter alone will change the sound to that of rushing air - but I could be wrong.

After my K&N was installed I noticed a louder whine type sound. I dunno why....

if its an exact replacement filter it should make any different noise, mine didnt. mine changed pitch when i took the silencer off but thats about it

That's normal, try putting on a CAI and a throttle body spacer, mine sounds like it's supercharged!

make sure you didn't leave the rubber grommet out between the filter and the MAF.
