Finally took the mustang to the track.

The car sat on some 245 nitto 555r street tires on both days. Car has a stone stock ls1/t-56 from a 99 camaro. Only thing done is a full exhaust. Car has a 3.27 gear.

Day one. I got about 15 runs in so ill only post a couple.

First run off of the highway.

60 2.191
1/8 8.543
mph 88.66
1/4 12.985
mph 109.05

Third run

60 1.979
1/8 8.312
mph 87.39
1.4 12.924
mph 97.86

The stock shifter is really sloppy. I went from 3rd to second and bounced the rev limiter right before the finish line.

Best run

60 2.048
1/8 8.380
mph 87.36
1/4 12.876
mph 108.66

At this point the stock clutch was starting to slip because i was hot lapping it and never gave it time to cool down.

Day 2.

I pulled the thermostat and wired the electric fan to run continously on high. This made the car sit at around 150-160 whereas before i was running the car at 210-220. The air filter is in the engine bay so I though this would help out and it did. I also hooked up the map sensor and the cam sensor at the back of the motor. For some reason I didn't hook them up when doing the swap.

Run one straight off the highway

60 2.072
1/8 8.221
mph 89.53
1.4 12.596
mph 114.64

The next two runs were the same mph 1/8 and 1/4. 60's were the same. Except one run was a low 12.6.

Overall im happy with such a stock motor putting out good times. Next time I go to the track Ill have a cam, 3.73, slick. Hopefully those will be enough to get me into the 11's Im hoping to go 10.99 like that before I spray it.

FWIW I now dialy drive the car. Its no track car with no interior or anything like that. The only thing that makes it anywhere near a track only it the fact that it has a chevy motor and a tubular front suspension. Otherwise the car has everything on it that would come stock.

I had a custom grinded cam from an LS1 Shop in NY made for my DD duties but still have a noticeable idle, its tough to find a cam that works well with an auto.

What did you do for an exhaust system?

what track do you go to? sept 1st friday at byron they will be running from 3 to 8:30 or 9 at night. its pretty fun and you can get a bunch of runs in. i got 8 off last time. ill be there may or may not be running.

If you have the time, Morris his having the last huge cruise night on Sept 9th. As long as the sun is out, I will be there in my blown notch, my buddy also should be there in his 16K 89 hatch. It would be cool to see your car in person.

i knew when people started complainin about a sbc in a fox they would regret it when you got times in. the problem with camaros is that there heavy, i think, so put it in a fox and bam.

still dont support the idea, but i cant argue with times..

80 will take you right to it.

Stevenson to 80 west.. to rt 47 then proceed south for 5 mins. last month was 700 something rides out there.

Nice times by the way.

I was a 12.501 @ 109 with a 1.77

302 with your basic edel package and 3.55 gear. Definitely can tell your making more power on the big end.
