Magnetic trigger in distributor

Does anyone know the car would act if the magnetic trigger inside the distrubitor was going bad, or will it cause any codes?

Its called the pip stator. with a bad pip stator the motor will have a skip and engine will to die often and the tach needle will usually bounce up and down..

the tach needle bouncing up n down, do u mean the car will surge and eventually die out from surging? and is it possible that would cause a 546 dtc code?

what happens to most prople when their pip goes bad is that the car just randomly dies when it is fully warmed up, usually at the most inopportune time. then after letting it sit a while and the dizzy cools down a little, it runs again.

bad pip is a common prob in the 94/95 5.0's. i don't have a book now to tell what that code is,
