I see you guys added a Big Block forum!!!! That is a great idea!:nice:

Can you please add a Modular Conversion forum??? There is one on www.modularfords.com but that forum does not have nearly enough members! Replies and threads are slow. The reason I ask, is because every time I flip open my 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords Mag, or MM&FF mag....there is a mod swap fox in there.....this is getting big.

I am currently doing one, and I can add a ton of information and give helpful advice to any members! I have been on Stangnet since Nov. of 2001, and I would appreciate if you considered this...Thank you...Matt

If we're going to have a modular swap forum, it should have a link on both 5.0 sections (Fox & 94-95), since the tech would be essentially the same between the two.

Absolutely!! These cars are virtually the same from 1979-2004. It is scary how close everything is...and how easy and interesting the swap is. We in the 5.0L, 4.6L and the 94-95 forums can all come together and help each other out!!

    Anybody else interested????

We should have just made an engine swap sub-forum.Dealing with anything NOT stock engine related.

Agreed. Awesome idea SVT32VDOHC!!!! I'd love to do a mod swap someday however even modularfox.com doesn't have enough rightups or pics/information that would make me feel comfortable performing this swap

    I agree with that.

The interest is very low and slow in each sub-category (big block and or/ modular swaps). By combining them, it may become a more well-rounded sub-forum:nice:

I like the idea of just an engine swap forum also....anything that covers all subjects...that would be more well rounded.

1990Coupe....if you ever get into this, ask me anything...I can help you or anybody else with this swap. I have overcome MANY obstacles using only Ford Mustang parts from both model years....I have bought nothing new from an autoparts store, the dealer, ebay, etc....

Oh yeah...and 1990Coupe...look for "Project 81 Hack Job Part III" soon....by Thursday/Friday...I have the rear end, and gas tank and other stuff done...pics are much over due.

Here's my take on this idea so far folks....

As you are aware, we only JUST created the Big Block Fox forums. We need to allow time to judge it's usefulness before we move on to other things.

Pretty much everything on this site is broken down by car model. Putting Big Block Fox under 5oh is the logical extension that follows that model.

I cannot see ever having just an "Engine Swap" forum. That is what the Technical sections for each model year are for! They are there as a gathering place for technical information relating specifically to the model year that they are named for. Creating an engine swap forum for all model years will only dilute the information contained in it so that folks have to weed though a lot of threads in order to find one that is applicable to them. That sort of thing has been tried and failed. The forum ends up becoming a ghost town with little traffic or participation. Look at the traffic for the Power Adder Forum as an example. Compare participation in that forum to that of forums that are model specific. There is no comparison.

As with most things though, there are some good points in what you are saying. This is what I see as a possibility coming from your suggestion:

If the Big Block Fox forum takes off and gets the use that we think that it should, then I could see there (at some point) being an Engine Swap top forum with sub-forums broken down by model beneath it. Kinda of like Mustang 5.0. It, in itself is not a forum. Tech and Talk etc. are contained within it.

As for the Big Block Talk forum... That will not happen. We are still talking about the Fox Mustang here and there is a link provided that takes you directly to 5oh Talk. The Talk forum exists for the soul purpose of keeping non-technical thread OUT of the tech forums. With that in mind, the 5oh Talk forum is more than sufficient. There's not reason to create another off-topic forum for this purpose.

You guys know that I'm a stickler for keeping tech topics in tech, and Talk topics in Talk. I imagine that this is why there is a request for a Big Block discussion forum. I do realize that Big Blocks for these cars is pretty unique (compared to other topics that go along with 5ohs and the small block) so I'm willing to make you this deal if you guys agree and think that it's a good (even if temporary) solution:

For the immediate future (while we gauge the usefulness of the new forum)... I will agree to NOT move threads to the Talk section (technical or not) so long as they remain ON TOPIC. That is... so long as they are conversation about the Big Block Fox, they can stay in that forum. This includes, shopping threads, what if threads, and/or theory threads or picture threads..... So long as they are about Big Block Foxes.

Would that be acceptable until we have time to see how things go?

The new forum was created as a collection point for information specific to putting these Big Blocks in our cars. I do however, see your point and would like to accommodate our user base. At the same time though, I don't wish to upset the organization of Stangnet because I believe that the way that things are organized now are pretty damned good!

I'll move this thread back to the new forum so those involved can post their comments. Let me know what you think about my suggestion for an interim fix.

    D'oh!

My bad guys... I misenterpreted the initial post. Swapping a modular motor INTO a Fox is what's being asked for... not a forum for swapping Big Blocks into other model years.

That's what happens when you skim instead ot READ. :rlaugh:

Currently, I am on vacation and out of town. I will revisit this issue with you guys when I get back in a week and look at the possibility. My initail reaction is that I think it's a good idea. It would be another data collection point for something that is SPECIFIC to the Fox!

    Sorry for the confusion.

5oh Mods. Please read the above post about my comments concerning posts in the Big Block forum. I'd still like to try that for a while and see how it goes. Let's leave ON TOPIC posts in the Big Block section even if they are less than technical threads for the time being and see how that goes.

    Thanks everyone!

You guys are the big guys, so I will wait patiently. I understand that the Big Block forum is new so I can see why you want to wait on how it goes before adding another.

I started the thread, and I was going with the "Modular Conversion" idea. Modular motors into foxes. Once again, every issue in the magazines there are cars that guys have done this to, and it really interests me.

The reason I started this thread is because Stangnet has 125,000 members. Stangnet is unrivaled by other forums!!! Other forums have the same threads on the first page anywhere from 3 months-2 years ago. They don't have enough traffic to get information out. They start the projects and never finish them.

Thanks for the consideration Daggs...Have a good vacation and I would hope to hear from you when you return!:flag:

Modular Fords has some action, many guys are all done with their modfoxes and they do not go on there anymore.

Modfox is a poorly designed website IMO, and there are posts on there from 2002. There is no traffic at all over there...

The best advice I can give you is this. If you choose to use the 94-04 dash....start there first. If you can conquer the fabrication it takes to install the dash, you can do the rest of the car! I have 10 hours into cutting and fitting, and I still don't have it bolted in. I still have it just clamped.

Im not doing the dash converion, just the motor swap I am actually retaining my fox harness/computer and doing the dizzy setup. I dont want to hack the car up too much since my car is super clean.

SVT32... I've forwarded your idea to the Big Boss. I'll hit him up again when I return from my mini-vacation to see what he thinks of it.
