Imo and it may not count for much since i dont have a s/c, but i have heard nothing but bad stuff about procharger
The shop I go to, one day last week when I was up there, a Procharged stang came in. It was a '96 auto and the guy was like it wont even get out of its own way. On the dyno, once he was able to make a full pass and it didnt cut off on him, he made a hair over 200rwhp
. a/f was everywhere but where it needed to be. A few hours tuning and he was close to 310rwhp and it ran 200% better than when he brought it in. Bad news is that was the 2nd time he has brought it in for the same problem.
#1 problem the shop told me with these kits is that they have to be tuned. People just bolt them on and can basically loose power. He said he has inherited way to many Procharger cars since he is a major tuning facility, and they have nothing but problems. Basically he does everything in his power to convince you to get a
Vortech or a Paxton.
2nd, and no offense but its an auto. Unless you throw on a stall converter you are going to have MAJOR lag on your boost when it shifts. 1st will pull hard, then when it does that quick shift through 2nd to drive there will be a bad lag, then once it starts taching up good in D then boost will start to pick up again.
We had a major talk on this since I want to s/c my old 5.0 and its an auto. I wanted to try and keep it an auto but its not feasible since I want to take it on the highway and it be over a 500hp car. If I went with a C4 I would loose OD, so the only other real choise I have is to swap to a 5 speed.
Thats my opinion on it. I know Procharger looks good, but from all Ive seen and heard I would never go with them, Intercooler or not.
