New cam, do I need new valve springs?

The stock will work ( .500 and less lift), but....... you know the story!! IF there is a lot of mileage on the springs, change them!! Or at least have them tested to insure they are good!! One of the mags did an article on valve spring..." 20 HP with valve springs...." (?) any way it wasnt 20 HP "From " the springs, it was 20 HP because of the springs!! the valve was Bouncing off the seat!! cool?? so IF you can upgrade... Do IT!! Cool??

Just me.............................

The stock springs are junk even for a stock cam if the motor has any miles on it. Definately want to change springs with a hipo cam. If not, you will get valve float before that cam will make any power anyway. Then again, if your using stock heads they will probably peter out about the same time the valves float anyway.

I used an crane2030 cam (same as E) in my 89 motor and I just called crane and asked what springs they recomended for that cam. I dont remember the number now but they went right on without machining the heads.
