You forgot to mention the all aluminum 32V DOHC V-8 they also have thats 368ish hp. They are nice cars. What I think is funny is that the Smashing Pumpkins made a song for the new commercial :rlaugh:

I saw one of those Friday, I couldn't ID it but I was pretty sure there was a Hyundai logo on the back...nice looking car, other than the Schwyn Lime Green color ;)

(there is a big Hyundai corporate building pretty near where I spotted it...)

They had high goals for that car. They want the four door to go head to head with Mercs S class
They are supposed to be more refined then anything domestic and up to the Germans level but I have yet to play with one. The Coupe with the V-8 should be quite nice though I couldnt see spending $45K on a Hyundai. I bought a brand new Elantra once and at $13K I thought it was outrageous!
I think its gonna be a short lived car. People couldnt see spending $99000 on VWs flagship a few years ago and it dissapeared even though it was a very nice car.

i had a customer with the sedan, It's an impressive car in person, now they have the program going where if you lose your employment within 1 year of purchase you can return it to hyundai, They do have a plant here in montgomery and i have seen virtual tours of it. They have stepped up big in the Import side of Autos.

you cant get the coupe with the V8 though. only the sedan.

the engine choices for the coupe are a 2.0L turbo 4 or a 3.8L V6

I got to test drive it. Drove pretty much like my ex-wifes Acura TL. I'm sure with some aftermarket tweeking it should handle pretty decently. Nowhere near the handling an M3 has but definitely fun!

If I were to spend 40 grand on a Hyundai, it would have a backhoe attached to the rear of it.

that's going to be a real tough sale right now. They make great cars, but I don't think too many people will buy this thing at that price.

I like the car, but it seems a bit porky and a bit expensive. I guess the turbo 4 models are suppose to start around 19-20k, which is much better than the 40k quoted in the thread.

My biggest problem with the car is the giant 'H' that looks like it was knocked off from honda.

Apparently, there will be some big aftermarket support for this car too. I think the turbo 4 has a lot of potential. It is based on the same block as the EVO and only running 10 psi from a tiny turbo. The public doesn't like turbo lag, so peak torque is around 2000rpm and it is choked on the top end. Add a real turbo, and it should easily beat the 3.8.
