May not be the biggest pos but any man that owns one just had thier man card revoked Sorry, but i've known people that had them and i thought they pieces of garbage
what car are you talking about? the genesis couple isnt out yet. and the g35/37 is a nice car. my dad had a 2006 g35 coupe and that thing was a blast to drive.
Comparing earlier Hyundai's to the Genesis is like comparing a Ford Fiesta to a S197 Mustang. In December I bought a new Mustang GT and my wife bought a new V8 Genesis. It's a very nice car and it is fairly fast and does wicked smokey burnoffs. I have had 5 and 7 series BMW's and the Genesis is every bit as nice. The resale value will suck and so does the MPG. If you look at the latest report that just came out, Dodge sales are down 55%, GM down 48%, Ford down 40%, Toyota down 36%, Nissan down 31%, Honda down 23% and Hyundai sales are up 16%. They must be doing something right.
I saw the one they had at the Detroit auto show, it has nothing on the Camaro or Mustang as far as style goes. The body is kinda ugly imo and the interior looks better in the pic above than it did at the show. No way I would choose one of those over cars like a 350Z, Mustang, or Camaro. I am sure the 4 door ones are nice and I sat in one at the show, but its no 5 series that is for sure. Id rather have the G8 over the 4 dr Genesis anyday.
Yeah, if you lose your job, you can give the car back with no negative penalty + the 10-year warranty. Hard to beat that deal really. Hyundai was considering a Lux brand like Nissan, Toyota and Honda did. IMHO, they should have done this. The Genesis is a nicely engineered car, but the family rep kills it. WOuld you buy a $40K Kia??
And because of that they keep losing money and going further into the hole. people need to buy freaking AMERICAN and stimulate OUR economy not the others
You gotta be kidding me. Do you know how many NON big three cars are built here in the states and sold here? The american auto makers just don't put out the quality that the others do for the same price right now. That's why they're in the ****ter, oh yea, that and the unions. I'd love to buy american but they just aren't up to par right now. Maybe they'll get their **** together if they don't go belly up first. At least Ford isn't begging for money like a crackhead on a street corner.
Go check out the newer cars Ford and GM have out, they are every bit as nice and well built as any Toyota or Honda. The big 3 have to overcome the reputation they built for themeslves, even now that they are building at least equal cars. New F150 and Silverado - best trucks on the market Fusion and Malibu are as nice as the camry or accord. Ford has the 3rd best selling hybrid in the Escape and the only SUV that gets over 30 city and highway. The new Taurus displayed at the auto show as incredible and imo is the best looking full size sedan on the market for the $$. Imo the only place the domestics fail miserably is on comapct trucks and small cars. Ford needs to put the focus on the Mazda 3 platform or just bring over the euro version. The Cobalt is crappy.
they build the sante fe and sonata here in montgomery. Been on a tour of the plant twice when i was in high school. the quality of these cars has improved lightyears. Hell the genesis won car of the year so that tells you something right there
Actually, Ford has surpassed Toyota and Honda in quality in a few segments. The new Fusion is killing the Camry in mileage as well. The small car problem will be solved for the 2010 model year when we get the new Fiesta and the Focus on the Mazda/Volvo platform will follow as well.
Their quality is actually better than a lot of foreign brands actually. It's just that it's been tough to shake their '90's reputation. I agree about the unions. Hard to pour money into R&D and Quality when you gotta put it towards all the union benefits. Toyota, Honda and Nissan all produce cars in the US, pay competive wages and just dont get bogged down with union "pork". All that excess money goes back into R&D and they come up with crappy systems that park the car for you...eventually
you are a few years behind the times. Ford is #1 in quality and safety right now. as for foreign cars being built here, you have too look at the part content of the vehicle, then take a look at where the profit is going. there is more to it than just where the car is assembled.
well here is my take on the subject. i like the new 2010 stang but if i like the genesis more i'll get it. maybe ford should offer the GT or some V6 turbo option with brembos and a torsen diff. hell, a six speed would be nice. its all down to the fun factor, though. i want american companies to make a good product but sadly the reason why they've been making crap while others have been making strides in quality has been because we've continued to buy the cars even if they do suck. our national pride has kept them from feeling the crunch and now they're feeling the squeeze because of it. but thats just my theory.
from what i've heard, the no negative penalty only applies for 1 year and less than $7000 of value lost.
You have to ask yourself one question, when you turn the key to whatever vehicle, does it bring a smile to your face? Ford has already shown that hp doesn't always bring in sales cough cough Camaro. I went from a 5L to a Spec V that ran suprisingly well for a 4 banger, but it didn't bring a smile to my face when I brought the vehicle to life. My affair lasted for five years before I went back to another Mustang...my 04 GT. When I was younger, I had to do all sorts of mods in order to be faster than the next guy. Now that I am older, I drive a stock 04 GT slushbox. Why?? Umm let's see, most states want to impound and keep your car if you are caught in any sort of "rapid acceleration" with a car next to you. Most of my commute is traffic, stop and go barf. The 4.6 has proven to go 200,000. I love the sound of Ford V8's. I think the stock mufflers with cats sound great. I've already pretty much determined that my next car will be a 3V 08+ GT. The ironic part is that my GT goes through the snow better than my Spec V did, both were equipped with snow tires and both have/had limited slips. I guess I really no longer care that the annoying kid in the whatever-the-latest craze who happens to be along side me, could beat me.
4.6 i heard they are making a 4.6L v8 for it too, it is very popular in korea all the rich kids are driving them there,
