Want to try autocross? Live anywhere near Pasco, WA?

We have a very nice autocross lot and are running a practice autocross session this Saturday, the 14th. PRACTICE. Run your car, test your mods, learn to performance drive, not just hit the GO pedal. If you have never tried this sport or if you want to hone your skills this is the event for you. $20/driver for all the runs you can stomach in 6 hours.

Visit ssscc.org for details.

Sounds like fun....but awfully far away. Any autocross around here?

You bet there is. try here or here . There are many good clubs on the west side, go check 'em out. I have a list of NW events, if you need one.

We offer numerous runs, long courses, (generally over 1 minute) and out here in the desert we are almost guaranteed not to get rained on.

We're about 3.5 hours from Seattle, 3 from Portland and 2 from Spokane.

Double race day coming up click here

I've REALLY been wanting to do Auto-X for the last few years. I finally have some free time and would like to make it out to an event or two. Unfortunately, Tri-Cities is too far away for me.

I saw on the nwr-scca page that there are several more events this year including one at Bremerton on Sunday the 15th. I'm thinking about attending this to at least see what it's all about, even if i don't enter.

Anyone else wanna check this out? Anyone know if i can enter as a novice since i haven't taken any of the "novice schools"?

I stopped auto x'ing on a regular basis about 1.5-2 years ago, but to answer your question, you do not have to run in a novice school to run a race event. Show up, and race, they will take you aside that day and help you learn the course, and I believe SCCA will even have someone ride with you.

I highly recommend trying auto x, lots of fun and a great way to learn better car control. A good set of auto x skills can be highly helpful when/if/ever you want to step up and try higher speeds at an open track event.

sheeeeeeiiiitttttt .... how about freakin Portland / Vancouver for that matter. Weve got what about a Mill-five including the burbs'. Ill stop by and ask the jerk-off that works at Baxters on mill plain. He's got big gaudy SCCA stickers all over his ewok mobile. May-be he knows a place to race (or maybe he just wanted the 50hp that the stickers added....)

Here's a list of some NW racing over the next month. Surely, even you guys/gals on the west side can find one that's not too far away :)

NW Hillclimb Association - Bogus Basin
Sept 4-5

The Bogus Basin hill climb is coming up on September 4 and 5. Greg Swank is interested in seeing if anybody is interested in attending this historic event with him.

Here's some of the details:

(Greg has entry forms)
Cost $85.00 if postmarked before August 18th ; + $15 if after. I think you may need Northwest Hillclimb Association membership which is, as I recall, $10 and maybe a Bogas Basin Hillclimb Association membership, which is $5). Condos are available, at least right now, and the cost is $150 +tax for an efficiency unit (sleeps 6) or $200 +tax for a suite (sleeps 8). He's
looking for several people to room with to share the cost.

As far as equipment goes, you must have a 10BC fire extinguisher in a metal bracket within reach of the driver or a fire system, long sleeve cotton shirt and cotton pants or a fire suit, and a Snell 90 or newer helmet. Driver window must be up or have a net or the driver must have arm restraints; no N2O; and I always love this one...shoes are required. And then, of course there are a bunch of administration rules, too, but those don't affect going, just running.

He didn't mention anything about roll bars, but I'm assuming if you have a open top car, you'll need a roll bar (or maybe a removable hard top).

Contact Greg for more info.

Why not hold an autocross event where there is a population  pasco? how about Bellevue/Bothel/Tacoma :rlaugh: :D :nice:

Typically NW Region SCCA & WWSCC race in Bremerton or Everett Boeing. They have also been known to have events at Cheney Stadium, Emerald Downs and both Tacoma and Seattle waterfront container storage. Available sites are a HUGE concern to both organizations due to constrictions, insurance, logistics. But regardless when I stopped going there were 150-200 people showing up to a Sunday WWSCC or SCCA auto x.
