Octane Question

I have searched this forum but can not find the answer to this question. How much of a difference is there between using 87 octane and 93 octane? Let me clear that question up. I am getting a Intake & Tuner Package and they are offering me 3 tunes. Will the performance gains between the 87 and 93 octane be worth the 20 cents a gallon? Does anyone have hard numbers that shows the difference?

What about getting a 93 performance, 93 torque, and 87 economy or performance?

That way when you go to the track you can run one of the two 93 tunes and when you are just driving in town you can use the 87 tune.

I'm not sure about numbers, but SOP, there's a HUGE difference between 87 and 93. It's totally worth it. I'm running 91, only because 93 is so rare around here.

I guess down south it's the norm. We have 87, 89, and 93. I've never seen 91 actually lol.

So the HP gain is between the octanes? Would you agree with that? I know you need to do the tune, you can not just throw the 93 octane in the tank.

You can put the 93 octane in the tank with out the tune, but you'd only get a couple of HP. Get a good tune, and your pony will come alive using the good gas.

I run the 91 race tune all-day-everyday. 91 is all I can get in NM. Once you put the 93 tune in you will never look back. 400 mile trip @ 100mph got 20.8 miles per gallon w/ 4.10 gears. Love the tunes form bama

i use 13 gal. of 91,and 3 gal. of 101.have it tuned to run on 93 but in phoenix you only get 91.two stations i know of with 101 are ,1-cave creek&union hills5.99p.g.2-bell&56 st 5.99 pg, union sta,makes a big difference.

I was told by the fellow who tuned my car that mid-grade is fine for these cars and that they don't run any better on 93. His car has 2,400 hp and he seems to know what he's talking about.

I run a Brenspeed 93 tune and cannot tell the difference between 91 and 93 octane.

Next time I'm at the track I'm going to try some Sunoco 101!
