Oil Pressure Gauge Doesn't Work

Yeah the oil pump shaft sorry
The oil pump is supposed to stay in the block. The shaft is supposed to have a spring washer on it that prevents it from being lifted out when you take the distributor out.

Solution for fixing an oil pump shaft that isn't engaging the pump but didn't fall down into the oil pan.

I'm gonna give this a try because I don't think it fell all the way into the pan. I can just see the top of it. I poked at it with an old oil dip stick I have and could feel it there. If it wasn't there I'd be able to practically touch the bottom of the pan or at least the oil pump right?
