I am going to order some DD Bullits from american Muscle. 18x9 in the front (255/45/18) 18x10 in thh rear (285/40/18) PREFERRABLY that is my innitial decision. Will the 18x10 make the wheels stick out PAST the fenders? I hate that look, I would like my wheels to be as flush as possible. I had some 20" Foose Legends ordered, got them; the found some pictures of them on a Mustang, I practically puked in my mouth and then got a tear in my eye. SO I had to get rid of them. I had finally came to the conclusion that most 20's don't appeal to me anymore. So if you could answer my question, and maybe some pictures? that would be very helpful.
No, that will not make them stick out. The rear tires will appear to be just a bit shorter than the fronts, however, so it will give you a bit more wheel gap. If you want to get rid of some wheel gap, jump up to 295/45/18.
OR...step up to a 285/50-18, which is just over 29" tall. That's what I plan on going to next and they should fit even with my car lowered.
ok, I did the math. with a wheel rating of 255/45/18: 255/25.4 = 10.04 x .45 = 4.5 inch sidewall, in the FRONT (27 inch diameter) with a wheel rating of 285/40/18: 285/25.4 = 11.22 x .40 = 4.48 inch sidewall, on the REAR (26.96 inch diameter) From what I have figured the sidewall heights will be pretty much the same heights, So i forsee that as NOT being a problem. 295/45/18 would give me a 5.22 inch sidewall. (28.44 diameter) 285/50/18 would give me a 5.61 inch sidewall. (29.22 diameter) They all will be fairly close, Although the 295 wont make the tires stick out past the fenders? nor will the 285/50? all this just confuses the heck out of me.
just make sure you order the ones for 05 on up and it should be flush with the fender. a guy around here put 94-04 deep dish bullitts on and it looked like he was ready to go off roading. another guy that stops by my work, has a s197 sixer and deep dish bullitts from american muscle, looks awesome.
The 295/45 Nitto on 10" wide wheel puts the sidewall almost perfectly flush with the fender lip, but does not go past it. ...I need more money plus make up my mind on new wheels or not so I can get these 235s off the back, because this... ...looks better than this...
A very helpful link that a co-worker showed me. Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing This will give you just about all the information you could ask for about tire sizes.
