OK after reading up on upgrading my mach460, Ive come up with the following system, let me know if you guys think it will work. I have a '99 Saleen s-281 with the mach460 currently. 1. I want to swap headunits for the JVC KD-AR7000. In doing so I will use the Metra amp integration kit (70-5511) here http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/70-5511.html I have a couple concerns though. The description of the metra kit says "Amplifier Integrator System for aftermarket radios 35 watts or less ." My radio is 50x4 watt, do you think this 35 watt number is RMS per channel or what? Do you think my amps will get fried or anything will go wrong? I also plan on adding a 4.7k ohm resistor in order to emilinate the popping noise when turning the car on that I have heard about. Do I need anymore wire harnesses or anything? Or will this kit have everything I need to swap headunits? I believe the RCA outs will just plug into the front and rear inputs in my headunit, leaving the subwoofer out input for the rest of my system... 2. Infinity Kappa 202a 300wattx2 amp, hooked up the normal way to my new headunit. 3. 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12's in a sealed box. Someone please let me know if there's anything I'm missing, something I should add, or if it's good the way it is. Keep in mind that I'm a novice, and therefore going for simplicity if at all possible (i.e. not splicing wires, soldering, etc). But, if this simply wont work I'd like to know what to do! Thanks everyone in advance for any help/advice you can offer me.
In searching for information on how to hook up a head unit in my '99 I found this http://www.mustangaudiosystems.com/MustangAudio_page2.htm Check out the "head unit interface adaptor". Pricey, but it looks like a simple plug and play solution for the novice like myself. Anyone have any experience, opinions, advice on this? Also, any help on the questions above would be great. Thanks.
