I just need to know if I understand how this works. Exhaust runs the turbo? Turbo forces air into the intercooler then to the intake? Does this eliminate the need for an air filter, or is there a spot on the turbo for fresh air? Is the intercooler just a modified radiator without the water? I understand it's for a specific purpose, but just as an "intercooler for dummies" question. More "for dummies" questions to come. Thank you
You've got the basic jist of it. Think of a turbo as a fan-driven fan. The exhaust blows across the blades of one fan which in turn spins a separate fan. The air flow paths are separate. You'll still need an air filter and associated plumbing. You've got the intercooler concept right. It's just a radiator for air.
