Paint

If I sanded this area down and spray painted it would it be noticable? or should I just take it to a shop and have them do it before it starts to rust...I know a guy that does body work and I am sure I could get him to paint it pretty cheap. Just want some opinions, and is this common on stangs?

I would give it a try first, sand it, mask it, prime, resand, paint.
Black is an easy color to match and its only going to cost the price of
2 cans of paint.
