Post them pics!!!!!!

It's strange but not one mustang in these pitures had the wide tires on the back. In the 70's all the fast cars had wide tires with the rear jacked up by air shocks or shackles. I thought it looked really cool, I had my 70 maverick, 67 and 68 fastback and 69 mach 1 all had 50 series tires on the rear that stuck out a foot on each side. I liked the lok so much that I would like to do something like that to my S-197 and really make it retro.

Heheh, I can remember running L60s on the front and back on my $20.00 1965 coupe I had in the 70s. Can you say rip/crunch/grind when I turned the wheels:rlaugh:

Here's a few of my work in progress. I'm currently in the process of rebuilding and upgrading all the suspension, adding power assist 4-wheel disc brakes, converting to rack and pinion steering and cleaning & detailing the engine compartment.

How did the paint come out with that outdoor open booth?

I built a temporary booth a lot tighter sealed this spring and got nailed with pollen
in my paint shooting the final step on my pickup (fenders and hood).
Had a filter system, wet down, ventilation and still got thru.

Hope you had better luck.

the paint came out prety good. got a few gnats in it. When doing home paint jobs I have certian rules I like to follow.

1. I always ground the car a peice of bare wire and a few lug nuts on the exhaust hanging to the ground.
2. as eairly as possible in the am
3 right after summer when the air cools down.


If you do do a make shift booth do not forget the ventalation. one box fan up high blowing in with a filter and an exhaust down low also with a filter.

Yea I had two box fans running sucking in the filtered air and enough breeze ontop of that pushing thru the filtered area to get good ventilation. My filter area was 3'x16' . Only had one bug get in my paint on the second coat so carefully got him out with extra long tweezers. The other coats covered the damage he did.
Guess a few gnats isn't to bad. It's the ones that get in the paint and start crawling that really get me ticked off,lol. Outdoor paint jobs are allways gonna be some problems. Your right on about the times to shoot it.

yes static, the bodyshop's i worked in both used a piece of heavy chain over the exhaust and touching the floor but i guess a piece of wire and some lug nuts would do the same thing. think of it like your powder coating the entire car, the paint molecules will gain a positive charge when they leave the tip of the gun, if you ground the car then they will be attracted to it. it doesn't work quite the same way as powder coating obviously but the effect is similar plus if you get a bunch of overspray hanging in the air or a solvent cloud as it is sometimes called you reduce the chances of becoming a human BBQ.
